The Caulfield Guineas is always an intriguing race and this year is no different. Some are claiming that this is the best crop of 3yo's for decades but I think this claim is premature. I am a big fan of Anamoe and think that both he, and the NZ horse, Forgot You are the two that could go on to big things. Oddly though, their dosage profiles that are often the type found in our best racehorses have not had much success in the Guineas in recent times. We have had our share of more staying profiles around 1.50 but no winners around 2.00. If recent history is any guide, we are probably looking at horses with a DI around 2.70 which sees Mr Mozart a chance, runners with a DI of 4.00 which suits Lightsaber and Giannis, or over 5.00 which brings in Tiger Malay and Alpine Edge. Personally I think it might be time for a more traditional result with Anamoe and Forgot You, but there could be one of the others to spring an upset.
